What goes on a QR-bill?
The payment part follows the Swiss Payment Standards. You need:
- Account: payee's IBAN or QR-IBAN
- Payee with postcode and town
- Amount – or empty if the payer fills it in
- Reference: QR reference with a QR-IBAN, otherwise Creditor Reference or none
- Message, e.g. the invoice number

Frequently asked questions
What is a QR-bill?
The Swiss standard for invoices with a payment part. Since October 2022 it has replaced the former payment slips. The payer scans the QR code with her banking app, and all details are filled in.
What is the difference between IBAN and QR-IBAN?
A QR-IBAN has an institution number from 30000 to 31999 (positions 5 to 9). It always needs a QR reference with 27 digits. With a regular IBAN you use a Creditor Reference (RF…) or no reference.
Are my details stored?
No. The bill is created in your browser. IBAN, names and amounts are not sent to Mapresto or to anyone else.
Can my banking app read the QR code?
The code follows the Swiss Payment Standards (version 2, error correction M, Swiss cross in the centre). Still, check your first bill once with your banking app before sending it.
Does the tool cost anything?
No. It is free and needs no sign-up.
